ADHD
Assessments

If your child is struggling with focus, organisation, or impulsivity, ADHD may be the underlying cause. Our assessments assess for ADHD and consider other alternative explanations (i.e., differential diagnosis).

Our ADHD assessments include:

  • In-depth diagnostic interviews with family and educators

  • Psychoeducational assessment (to rule out other possible causes of inattention)

  • Personalised feedback and comprehensive diagnostic report

Cognitive Assessments

A cognitive assessment is an assessment of a child or young person’s intellectual profile. A cognitive assessment can tell us how we think, learn, and solve problems. It can be used to tell us more about our cognitive strengths and weaknesses.

These assessment reports can be used educational settings to assist teachers in understanding how a child may learn best. It can also be used to determine whether an individual may meet criteria for an intellectual disability and can be used to assist with applications for the NDIS.

Psychoeducational Assessments

A psychoeducational assessment is an assessment of both a child’s cognitive skills and academic skills. These assessments can tell us about how we think, learn, and solve problems. It can be used to tell us more about our strengths and weaknesses in different academic areas (e.g., literacy, numeracy).

These assessments can also be used to assess for Specific Learning Disorder’s (e.g., dyslexia, dysgraphia). These reports include specific recommendations tailored to a child’s unique cognitive and academic profile including specific strategies or skills to help their child learn best.

Functional Capacity Assessment

Our therapists conduct thorough Functional Capacity Assessments to evaluate an individuals abilities with communication, mobility, self-care, social participation, learning, and working. This assessment is crucial for creating an effective plan that meets the clients specific needs and goals.

What is the purpose of a functional capacity assessment?

  • Determines an individuals support needs and community participation.

  • Determines appropriate support, accommodations, and leads to successful participation.

  • Support demands may include therapeutic support, accommodations, equipment, home modifications, and NDIS funding recommendations.

What does our assessment include?

Our comprehensive assessments include an initial interview and questionnaires, face to face assessment of the individual including their physical, emotional and cognitive capacity and an assessment of their home environment. Once completed a comprehensive report will be provided outlining tailored goals and recommendations for future supports.
